About paad.

Paad is a personal collection of books, magazines, catalogues and documents.

Paad is a means of making these files public and accessible.

Paad is a platform which interconnects topics in art, society and culture. The purpose is to contribute to the international dialogue and circulation of these documents.

The sources of the collection are diverse and propose a lateral view of the activities in these fields of knowledge.

Paad is developing scanned files of documentary material from Argentina between 1930 to 2000: Literature (1930 to 2000), Politics (1943 to 1984) and Art (1957 to 2000).

The platform also seeks to provide documentary support for art and culture exhibitions related to Argentina, Latin America and the world.

December 4, 2017

As a child I went where I should not-a crumbling barn full of junk-and suffered the sting of a spider. A few days later, near the ankle, he wore an oval that seemed to have something rotten and gelatinous that dried up over time, but the skin never regained its original appearance. In addition to […]

Art in the Age of Black Power

October 21, 2017

Soul of a Nation shines a bright light on the vital contribution of Black artists to a dramatic period in American art and history. The show opens in 1963 at the height of the Civil Rights movement and its dreams of integration. In its wake emerged more militant calls for Black Power: a rallying cry […]

What Participation in the Whitney Biennial Means to These Emerging Artists

March 20, 2017

By Isaac Kaplan One day in the spring of 2016, artist Maya Stovall received a call from Christopher Y. Lew and Mia Locks. The two curators had spent several hours in Stovall’s Detroit studio earlier in the year—enough for them to make the decision to invite her to participate in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, the […]

The Flamboyant Feminism of Cult Artist Florine Stettheimer

By Alexxa Gotthardt Florine Stettheimer was a painter of eccentric and extravagant tastes. “I like slippers gold / I like oysters cold / and my garden with mixed flowers / and the sky full of towers,” she declared in a poem penned in the early 1900s. Her canvases similarly brimmed with sparkling finery, lush bouquets, and […]
